Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have my hearing checked?
Most of the time, hearing loss happens gradually, making it difficult to notice when it starts or when it’s the right time to take action. That’s why we recommend having your hearing checked at least every two years from the age of 40 onwards. Regular check-ups help ensure your hearing stays in great shape—and if there are any issues, early intervention can make all the difference.
At Wilmslow Hearing Centre, we’re happy to offer free hearing screenings or a more comprehensive hearing and communication assessment.
Let us help you stay on top of your hearing health!
How much will the hearing aid cost?
Buying a hearing aid isn’t just about the device itself—it’s also about the expertise of the audiologist and the advanced testing that ensures the best fit for your needs. Our hearing aids range from £695 to £1,995 per aid, and we’re committed to finding the right solution for you.
Our packages include:
- A five-year warranty
- Batteries
- Unlimited aftercare sessions
- Free earwax removal
- We also offer a 12-month interest-free payment scheme to make things easier.
The right solution depends on your hearing requirements, lifestyle, and budget. Remember, the most appropriate hearing aid for you isn’t always the most expensive one, it’s the one that best meets your needs.
How long will the hearing test take?
Our comprehensive hearing and communication assessment typically lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. During this time, we take the opportunity to discuss your specific needs, conduct the necessary tests, and, if required, demonstrate and recommend suitable solutions.
Do you offer a trial period and returns?
Yes we certainly do. We offer a 30-day trial period for new hearing systems. If you don’t achieve the results you were hoping for, we’ll work closely with you to find a better solution. If no suitable option is found, we will simply refund your payment, provided you are within the trial period.
What does the manufacturer’s warranty cover?
The manufacturer’s warranty covers repairs for faults for up to four years from the fitting date. However, it does not include accidental damage or loss, so we recommend covering your hearing aids through your household contents insurance.
Charging boxes come with a two-year warranty, also covering repairs due to faults. Like hearing aids, they are not covered for accidental damage or loss, so we advise insuring them alongside your hearing aids for peace of mind.
Can you fix my NHS hearing aid?
We can take a look and try to help you, but we do not deal with NHS hearing aids as a general rule.
Do you provide home visits?
Yes we can arrange home visits. We charge £100 for a hearing test at your home. If you are house-bound and require regular visits, we charge £40.00 per visit.
I have just moved to the local area and have private hearing aids bought elsewhere. Can you look after me from now on?
If you have documentation showing that the prescription is yours and from a qualified audiologist, then yes, we can help!
We’ll need to conduct a full hearing assessment to update your results. Once we have those results, we can make any necessary adjustments to your existing hearing aids. We’ll also give your hearing aids a thorough clean and check.
We will then arrange a follow-up appointment two weeks later to ensure everything is working perfectly.
This service costs £195.00 and includes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours of consultation time.
